RAWALPINDI, Nov 26 (APP):Commissioner Rawalpindi Engineer Aamir Khattak on Wednesday reviewed progress on the dualization of Lilla–Jhelum Road Project from the Lilla Interchange through Pind Dadan Khan to Jhelum and directed all the departments to ensure the timely completion of related utility works.
Chairing a meeting at his office, the commissioner was briefed in detail on the latest status of the project. Additional Commissioner (Coordination) Zainiya Humayun, Chief Officer Municipal Corporation Imran Ali, the Director Development, and officials of the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) attended the meeting.
Commissioner Khattak instructed IESCO to give “special priority” to shifting its infrastructure between Misri Morr and Pinanwal and stressed the need for close coordination with the local administration to ensure prompt provision of required services. He emphasized that all utility-related tasks must be completed without delay to keep the project on schedule.
He said that there would be no compromise on construction quality, safety standards or public convenience.
During the briefing, the IESCO officials reported that around 692 electricity poles were installed along a seven-kilometer stretch of the project, with relocation work under way. Pole shifting on the 22.5-kilometer section from Lilla to Pind Dadan Khan had been completed, they said.
On the 25.5-kilometer segment from Pind Dadan Khan to Pinanwal, 40 per cent of the work had been completed, while the Pinanwal–Misri Morr stretch (24.5 km) stood at 30 per cent. The 23-kilometer section from Misri Morr to Bukhari Chowk had been completed, and 20 per cent of the 11-kilometer Bukhari Chowk–Jhelum GT Road stretch had been finalized, the meeting was told.
