Parliamentary Secretary stresses protection of children’s rights

RAWALPINDI, Nov 26 (APP):Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Culture Punjab Shazia Rizwan on Wednesday attended a Children’s Day ceremony at Government Girls High School Dhok Hasu, emphasising the protection of children’s rights and the promotion of their future well-being. The event was organised with the support of UNICEF.
The school principal briefed the participants on the institution’s performance, academic standards and extracurricular activities, highlighting a focus on girls’ education and character-building in line with modern educational requirements.
Addressing the gathering, Shazia Rizwan said the observance of Children’s Day in Pakistan aimed to safeguard children’s rights, ensure their welfare and provide an environment that nurtures their potential. “The nation’s future is linked to our children, who are the architects of tomorrow,” she said, describing the students as “bright stars” who would contribute to the country’s progress, prosperity and social stability. She added that the Punjab Government was taking all possible measures to promote education, training and the protection of children’s rights.
The Parliamentary Secretary also commended the school administration for its efforts and noted that girls’ education formed the foundation of national development, with the government, in collaboration with the United Nations, implementing various initiatives to support children’s welfare in educational institutions.
