MIRPUR (AJK), Nov 26 (APP): Strongly condemning the recent Indian occupational forces’ violent attack on world-reputed independent english Daily “Kashmir Times” in occupied Jammu to curb its policies of the freedom of Jammu Kashmir state, US-based veteran Kashmiri leader Raja Muzaffar, Director, Board — South Asia Democracy Watch, Wednesday expressed his firm and unwavering solidarity with Parbodh Jamwal, Anuradha Bhasin.
“The reported Indian State Investigative Agency’ attack, conducted on an office of the newspaper that has been closed for four years, and the labeling of their work as “activities inimical to the state” are nothing short of an assault on independent journalism”, Raja Muzaffar, ex Senior Vice Chairman of the JKLF (Yasin Malik) said.
He continued as saying “Since 1954, Kashmir Times has stood as a beacon of truth—amplifying marginalized voices, exposing corruption, demanding accountability, and documenting the lived experiences of the people of Jammu & Kashmir.
“I unequivocally condemn these actions. This harassment must stop immediately. The constitutional and international guarantees that protect press freedom must be upheld without delay. Journalists are not criminals or enemies of the state—they are guardians of truth, transparency, and public interest”, Muzaffar declared
The Kashmiri leader called upon the United Nations, UNESCO, Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), Reporters Without Borders (RSF), Amnesty International, and all global defenders of press freedom to urgently investigate and speak out. The world cannot remain silent while independent media spaces in Kashmir are being targeted, pressured, and suffocated.
“To the entire Kashmir Times team and its readership: You are not alone. Across continents and communities, those who believe in justice, human dignity, and democratic freedoms stand with you. Your resilience inspires us, your work matters, and your right to report without fear must be protected”, Raja Muzaffar concluded.
