QUETTA, Nov 26 (APP):Commissioner Quetta Division, Shahzeb Khan Kakar, chaired an important review meeting on Wednesday to assess and improve the cleanliness situation across Quetta and its surrounding areas.
The session was attended by Administrator Metropolitan Corporation Mujeeb-ur-Rehman QambranI, CEO PPP Dr. Faisal, PD Safa Dilnawaz Khan and other officials.
During the meeting, the officials conducted a detailed assessment of the current sanitation system in both urban and suburban parts of the city. Commissioner Kakar directed the concerned departments to make the cleanliness operations more effective, efficient, and expansive, emphasizing the need for swift resolution of existing issues.
Representatives from Safa Quetta briefed the meeting on the ongoing door-to-door waste collection service, noting that it has received strong public appreciation.
The service is currently active in seven localities, with plans for gradual expansion to the entire city. Officials stated that once fully implemented, the system will provide households with doorstep waste collection and help keep streets and neighborhoods free of garbage. A modest monthly fee has been set for residents availing the service.
Safa Quetta authorities also highlighted challenges in revenue recovery. In response, Commissioner Kakar stressed the importance of adopting digital solutions.
He advised the development of an app or digital mechanism that would ensure transparency and streamline the fee-collection process.
The commissioner further instructed the officials to improve and accelerate door-to-door collection, organize fee collection from commercial areas and ensure the proper disposal of collected waste.
He directed the immediate provision of necessary machinery and equipment, reaffirming that the upgraded system would be expanded in phases to all urban and peripheral zones.
Commissioner Shahzaib Kakar underscored that maintaining the city’s cleanliness and beauty is impossible without the active cooperation of both residents and the business community.
The meeting also reviewed short-term and long-term plans aimed at sustaining and enhancing sanitation services across Quetta.
