PESHAWAR, Nov 26 (APP): The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority on Wednesday sealed a factory in Nowshera, allegedly involved in the large-scale production of synthetic and adulterated milk.
According to an official statement, the authority’s team conducted a raid on a tip-off and recovered 350 litres of prepared fake milk from the unit situated in the Industrial Estate, Risalpur.
The adulterated milk was destroyed on the spot.
Spokesperson of the Authority said the operation was carried out by Nowshera team under the supervision of Deputy Director Peshawar Division Sher Rehman, accompanied by the Town-2 Peshawar Food Safety Team. Samples tested on-site through the Mobile Food Testing Laboratory confirmed the milk to be artificial and harmful.
Officials seized the factory’s machinery, chillers, chemical drums and a vehicle used to supply chemicals. The premises were sealed, heavy penalties imposed and an FIR lodged against the factory owners.
Director General KP Food Authority Wasif Saeed praised the team’s successful action, terming the production of fake and adulterated milk a “heinous crime” against public health. He directed inspection teams across the province to intensify crackdowns on such illegal activities.
