LAHORE, Nov 26 (APP): Director Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Lahore Zone, Capt (retd) Muhammad Ali Zia, held a high-level meeting at the Zonal Office Lahore to review and strengthen the performance of the Corporate Crime Circle.
According to an FIA spokesperson on Wednesday, the circle in-charge gave a detailed briefing on the current performance and ongoing cases of the circle. The director issued instructions to improve efficiency, including rationalising workload to enhance investigative outcomes. He highlighted the importance of maintaining quality and strong evidence in all investigations to ensure every case is completed thoroughly without flaws.
The spokesperson added that swift action will be taken on copyright infringement cases to protect citizens and the national treasury. A comprehensive crackdown has also been ordered against hawala operators, illegal money exchangers, and their facilitators, with at least one hawala case to be reviewed daily at the director’s office. Officers have been instructed to review case files thoroughly before court hearings to ensure a strong presentation and avoid unnecessary delays.
Director Ali Zia highlighted that learning is a continuous process, and regular training sessions for investigation officers, particularly newly recruited staff, will be resumed. Wanted lists will be compiled according to the severity and nature of crimes to facilitate effective, modern-day crackdowns, he added.
Special attention will be given to bringing individuals defrauding investors through fake companies to justice. He noted that new measures are being implemented to strengthen institutional credibility and operational performance, while the professional development of FIA officers remains a top priority.
