Commissioner Quetta reviews progress on PSDP development schemes

QUETTA, Nov 26 (APP): Commissioner Quetta Division, Shahzaib Khan Kakar, chaired a high-level meeting to review progress on newly approved development schemes under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP).
The meeting wat attended by Deputy Commissioner Quetta Mehrullah Badini, Divisional Director Development Zahoor Ahmed, and senior officials from various departments, including Agriculture, Colleges, Culture, Irrigation, Environment, Labor, Local Government, Minority Affairs, Energy, Primary Education, PHE, Transport, QDA, and WASA.
Officials briefed the commissioner that 114 new development schemes for Quetta district have been included in the PSDP. Departments presented detailed updates on tendering procedures, fund releases and challenges faced during implementation.
Commissioner Kakar instructed all departments to expedite execution of projects and ensure completion within stipulated timelines.
He stressed for resolve issues delaying stalled projects and activate them without further delay.
The Commissioner directed the officials to obtain mandatory approval from the District Water Committee for all drinking water and supply schemes before proceeding
Shahzaib Kakar emphasized that projects related to health, education, and clean drinking water must be completed on a priority basis, while progress on road sector and community-based schemes should also be accelerated. He further stressed the need to eliminate duplicate projects to maximize efficiency.
The Transport Department announced several new initiatives, including the addition of 21 new buses, 17 green and 5 pink buses for Quetta, and 4 buses for Turbat.
They informed that work is underway on the People’s Train Service within Quetta city and the launch of the electric vehicles project.
Commissioner Shahzaib Kakar expressed strong displeasure over the absence of certain departmental officials from the meeting. He directed that letters be sent to the respective secretaries seeking an explanation.
Reiterating the government’s commitment, he warned“The timely completion of public-interest projects remains a top priority. Negligence in this regard will not be tolerated.”
The meeting underscored the provincial government’s focus on public welfare, infrastructure development, and accountability, with Commissioner Kakar urging officials to utilize all available resources to deliver results for the people of Quetta.
