LAHORE, Nov 26 (APP): The district administration continued a vigorous anti-encroachment operation across the provincial capital, removing 598 encroachments and over 21,000 illegal advertising materials in a single day.
The operation, carried out jointly by the District Administration Lahore, Metropolitan Corporation Lahore (MCL) and Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority (PERA) teams, targeted major commercial centres, where illegal structures, unauthorized billboards, banners, and obstructive installations were cleared.
The spokesperson for district administration said the extensive action has resulted in widening of roads, restoration of traffic flow, and improved pedestrian mobility after footpaths were cleared of unlawful occupation.
A zero-tolerance policy is being implemented to ensure full enforcement of the Chief Minister’s “Suthra Punjab” vision, with particular focus on removing illegal parking setups, unauthorized sheds outside restaurants and cafés, and all obstacles contributing to congestion.
Deputy Commissioner Musa Raza said the administration is fully committed to making Lahore encroachment-free, clean, and beautiful. “Footpaths are the right of citizens. No form of occupation will be allowed,” he emphasized, directing all officers to remain present in the field and ensure the immediate removal of any obstruction affecting public convenience. He reiterated that the operation would continue without interruption until the last encroachment is removed.
Simultaneously, the DC instructed relevant departments to provide alternative vending spaces under the Rehri-Baan initiative and expedite the processing of model vending carts to support livelihoods of low-income families.
The district administration has urged citizens to register complaints via the control room at 0307-000234 or through official social media channels.
