Minister briefed about appointment procedure of medical officers

PESHAWAR, Nov 25 (APP):Provincial Minister for Health, Khaliq ur Rehman here Tuesday chaired an important meeting regarding the issuance of appointment letters to the newly inducted 51 Medical Officers (MOs).
The meeting was also attended by Director General Health Services, Dr. Shahid Younus and concerned officers of the health department.
The minister was briefed that the recruitment process for these doctors had begun in July 2025, under which 115 vacancies were advertised on a merit basis through EATA. A total of 111 doctors have already been appointed through this process while the remaining 51 consultants have also been finalized.
It was further informed that the second phase of recruitment is also underway to meet the dire need for doctors and consultants in the province. Under this phase, 207 positions are being filled through EATA under a transparent and merit-based system.
Interviews for 32 dental surgeons have been completed while tests for 165 medical officers have been conducted and their interviews will be held soon.
While distributing the appointment letters, the minister urged the newly appointed doctors to work with dedication, honesty and professionalism to strengthen health department.
He emphasized that the provincial government and health department are taking serious steps to address the challenges in the healthcare system and to introduce meaningful reforms.
The minister expressed satisfaction over the recruitment process and extended his best wishes to the new inductees and said that province needs competent, honest and qualified individuals to improve basic health services.
