RAWALPINDI, Nov 25 (APP):A comprehensive voter awareness programme was held on Tuesday at Madrasa Jamia Sidiqia Islamia.
The initiative, conducted under the directions of District Election Commissioner-I Zain-Ul-Abideen Shah and District Election Commissioner-II Safya Akbar, drew a large number of students.
Assistant Election Commissioner-I Rawalpindi, Tanveer Ahmed, highlighted the importance of voting and civic responsibilities.
He said, “The vote of every citizen is not only a right but also a national trust, the proper use of which plays a fundamental role in shaping the future of the country.”
Tanveer Ahmed urged the students to obtain their national identity cards promptly, noting that without them, citizens cannot exercise their constitutional right to vote.
He also emphasised that young voters form the backbone of the electoral process and that their active participation strengthens the democratic system.
Students actively engaged during the session, asking questions about voter registration, polling procedures, and the Election Commission’s responsibilities, which were answered in detail.
At the conclusion, students, teachers, and the Madrasa administration described the session as highly informative and expressed interest in more such programmes in the future.
