Sargodha to celebrate 123rd Foundation Day on Feb 22

SARGODHA, Nov 25 (APP):Commissioner Jehanzeb Awan announced on Tuesday that the 123rd Foundation Day of Sargodha will be celebrated with full enthusiasm on February 22. He instructed all relevant departments to begin preparations early and ensure that the celebrations reflect the city’s rich historical identity.
To coordinate the activities, he ordered the formation of a working group, which will present its proposals during the next meeting.
These directions were issued during the weekly performance review meeting, which was attended by Deputy Commissioner Capt. (R) Muhammad Waseem, Director Development Bilal Hassan, WASA MD Abu Bakar Umar, PHA MD Muhammad Arshad, CEO SWMC Rana Shahid Imran, and officials from FESCO, the Food Authority, Highways, PERRA, and other key departments.
During the meeting, WASA MD Abu Bakar Umar raised the issue of shops built along the supply line of the Shahin Chowk water tank. The commissioner took immediate notice and requested the revenue records of the shops, stressing that any illegal construction on state land would be removed.
The WASA MD also provided updates on ongoing projects, including the helpline and sewage system upgrades in the city.
PHA officials reported that 3,500 plants have been planted along Tariqabad Road, and development work on Azaad Road, Block 31 Park, and Block X Park in New Satellite Town is progressing rapidly. The commissioner directed that parks in Blocks 17, 21, 23, and 26 be developed in the next phase.
FESCO officials shared that underground cabling work has commenced under the City Beautification Project, covering City Road and Katchery Bazaar. The commissioner emphasized that work must adhere strictly to timelines without compromising on quality.
The Food Authority revealed that 92 water filtration plants have been inspected, and a special training program for staff has been launched. Private filtration plant operators have been instructed to record and share videos of filter replacements for transparency.
Highways officials reported that work on Shahinabad–Silanwali Road will begin in the second week of December, with the commissioner urging strict monitoring to prevent any delays or negligence.
Municipal Corporation officials shared that new streetlights are being installed on Sessional Road and Silanwali Road, while the rehabilitation of old lights is ongoing.
Taking note of the slow progress in clearing encroachments from the verandas of Jamia Masjid Block No. 1 Market, the commissioner ordered an expedited operation to remove the encroachments.
Reviewing the Suthra Punjab Programme, he warned that action would be taken against the District Monitoring Manager if cleanliness and discipline standards were not significantly improved.
The commissioner directed all departments to speed up ongoing development works to ensure that civic facilities are enhanced in time for the upcoming Foundation Day celebrations.
