Education Minister vows to eliminate corruption from education sector

QUETTA, Nov 25 (APP):Balochistan Education Minister Rahila Hameed Khan Durrani said that the policy of the current provincial government is clear: making the education department free from corruption is our top priority. She said that under the vision of Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, the current government has taken practical steps to make this entire system based on merit and transparent.
She said this while addressing a ceremony organized by the Directorate of Colleges and Higher Education Balochistan and the National Accountability Bureau Balochistan on the occasion of the successful organization of provincial-level competitions at Government Girls Postgraduate College Quetta Cantt in collaboration with the Directorate of Colleges and Higher Education Balochistan and the National Accountability Bureau Balochistan.
The Education Minister said that we are living in a society where corruption comes to the fore in some form or the other despite hard work and efficiency. There is an urgent need to give a positive direction to the thinking of especially female students and the younger generation. She said that Pakistan is a blessing that was obtained in the name of the word, and came into existence through the sacrifices of our ancestors.
She said that today, it is our responsibility to make honesty and integrity the foundation in the construction and development of this country. The Education Minister said that we have a complete code of life like Islam, which shows a clear path for everything. If we correct our thinking and behavior, then society can improve itself.  Sometimes a sentence changes a life, I pray that even a single word spoken in today’s ceremony will bring about a positive change in all of your lives.
She clarified that no job has been sold in the education department, nor would it be allowed to be sold.
She said that we have made all the recruitment processes transparent and have given first priority to merit, the teachers who are being recruited are being selected purely on the basis of merit and competence.
The Education Minister expressed her determination that the Balochistan government would continue to take all possible steps to eliminate all types of corruption in the education sector and establish transparency so that a better, cleaner and stronger education system could be provided to the young generation.
It should be noted that these competitions were organized in collaboration with the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Balochistan, with the aim of promoting honesty, transparency, creativity and positive activities among the youth. Additional Director NAB Balochistan Imran Akhtar Majeed, Director Colleges Professor Muhammad Hussain Baloch, Joint Director Professor Sadia Niaz, Principal Government Girls Postgraduate College Quetta Cantt Sadia Farooqi were present at the ceremony.
Other speakers at the ceremony appreciated the performance of the students and said that such competitions play an important role in developing positive thinking, moral values and creative abilities among the young generation. They said that students are the assets of the country and the nation, we all have to play our role together in eliminating corruption. Its prevention is the need of the hour so that our country could move on the path of development.
The students participating in the competitions participated with great enthusiasm and performed brilliantly.  Teachers and participants appreciated this joint effort of the Directorate of Colleges and NAB Balochistan.
The Directorate of Colleges and Higher Education Balochistan thanked all the participants and organizers for organizing the successful competitions.
Earlier, competitions were held in various categories in the ceremony, including Urdu speech competition, English speech competition, Urdu essay writing, English essay writing, poster making, painting, and creative writing. 53 students from colleges across Balochistan participated in these competitions.
Finally, the Minister of Education distributed prizes among the students who showed outstanding performance.
