ISLAMABAD, Nov 25 (APP):Minister of Federal Education and Professional Training (FE&PT) Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui on Tuesday underscored the importance of books as a pathway to knowledge and long-term success.
He made these remarks during address to three-day 11th National Book Festival, being held at Lok Virsa from November 25-27, where Farah Naz Akbar, Parliamentary Secretary, M/o FE&PT also participated.
Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui urged the participants to read book abundantly, noting, “Books are your identity, your identity is your destiny.”
“It is difficult to create identity without pen and book,” he added.
He further said that being Muslim, the first commandment of our religion is IQRA, ( Read), adding, “Knowledge is the lost heritage of the believer.”
He recalled that our country was came into being in the name of religion, focusing, “we need to spend our live in the light of teachings of religion.”
“The greatest characteristic of knowledge is that the more one has, the less it seems,” he added.
During her address, Farah Naz Akbar, underscored the importance of book fair in this era to highlight the significance of books for success.
“Although, we are passing through digital era, particularly the era of chat GPT, but we should not break the relationship with books,” she said.
While sharing her personal experience she said that at the time of her childhood, reading books were in common practice, adding, “Now children use mobiles, this is also necessary but reading books equally important.”
She also visited book stalls and expressed confidence to hold such activities in future for building interest of all particularly young generation to acquire knowledge through reading of books.
