LAHORE, Nov 24 (APP): Punjab’s Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has introduced a state-of-the-art Command and Control Mobile Unit, a fully equipped “mobile operations headquarters” built to enhance real-time monitoring, coordination and decision-making during major security operations.
The specialised vehicle is already being deployed at high-profile events including the Raiwind congregation, the annual Urs at Data Darbar, international cricket matches, Ashura processions and large political gatherings. From this single platform, CTD officials can observe ground situations, issue instructions and synchronise multiple teams instantly during fast-moving operations.
A CTD spokesperson said the mobile unit also acts as the department’s mobile technical wing, providing live data streams, video surveillance and analytical support to field units. The vehicle is equipped with multi-powered workstations, a compact conference area, presentation facilities, modern air-conditioning and a refrigerator, effectively functioning as a fully furnished control room suitable for sensitive and long-duration missions.
Designed for rapid response, the unit can support hot-pursuit teams from Lahore to Karachi, Quetta or Peshawar, and can serve as a back-up command centre in remote or border regions. It links CTD headquarters with regional and district offices, as well as special operations teams, connecting them to offline and online databases, Punjab Police applications and telecom networks, all accessible through an integrated software platform.
The vehicle carries an advanced surveillance suite featuring 360-degree PTZ cameras, pin-hole cameras, drones and a facial recognition system capable of identifying suspects in large crowds. Its thermal imaging tools, live drone feeds and GIS mapping provide continuous tracking of sensitive routes, key locations and movement patterns, significantly strengthening CTD’s operational capability.
