KOHAT, Nov 24 (APP): Kohat University of Science and Technology (KUST) has donated 500 books to the District Jail Kohat library on Monday to promoting education and rehabilitation.
Accrding to APP correspondent, VC of KUST, Prof. Dr. Zafar Ilyas, personally handed over the books, which cover a wide range of subjects including Islamic studies, literature, history, biographies, science, and general knowledge.
Speaking on the occasion, Superintendent Muatasim Billah said the jail administration has always endeavored to provide prisoners with opportunities for reform and education so that they may become productive citizens after their release.
He expressed heartfelt gratitude to the KUST administration, particularly Dr. Zafar Ilyas, for playing a vital role in the rehabilitation and training of inmates.
The donation aims to cultivate a love for reading among inmates, encourage positive activities, and strengthen the educational environment within the prison.
Prof. Dr. Zafar Ilyas emphasized that education is a fundamental right of every individual. He noted that encouraging prisoners to read not only keeps them engaged in constructive pursuits but also brings meaningful changes in their lives. He expressed hope that the donation would further strengthen the inmates’ inclination towards knowledge and learning.
