ISLAMABAD, Nov 24 (APP):The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration, in coordination with the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) and the Excise and Taxation Department, has announced the establishment of new M-Tag counters to speed up the ongoing tagging process in the federal capital.
In this regard, a special counter has been set up at the National Press Club to provide access to journalists.
According to the administration, media professionals can visit the press club to have M-Tags installed on their vehicles without delays. The initiative aims to streamline the process for reporters who travel frequently across the city for work.
For the wider public, a separate counter has been established at Parade Ground. Officials said this new point has been created to reduce the load at existing facilities, particularly the busy Kachnar Park I-8 installation booth, which continues to receive a high number of applicants. Citizens have been advised to use the Parade Ground counter to avoid long lines.
The spokesman of ICT administration has confirmed that 12 M-Tag counters are now operational across Islamabad, making it easier for people to complete the requirement. These counters are part of a citywide effort to regulate vehicle entry using the automated system.
The Excise and Taxation Director is carrying out visits to all installation points to review operations and ensure that services remain smooth. Assistant Commissioners are also monitoring the counters under the instructions of the Director General (DG) Excise.
During these visits, officials reviewed the services being provided to citizens and assessed the support available at each counter. According to the DG Excise, more counters will continue to be added as needed to manage public flow and maintain uninterrupted service. The administration aims to expand access in areas where demand is growing.
The DG Excise urged citizens to choose the Parade Ground booth to avoid crowding at other locations. He noted that the new facility has been set up specifically to distribute applicants more evenly across the city.
Deputy Commissioner Irfan Memon added that journalists can easily visit the National Press Club counter for timely M-Tag installation. He said the district administration is working to ensure that access points remain functional and convenient for all vehicle owners.
The District Administration reiterated that the public’s cooperation is important for keeping the process efficient. As vehicle tagging continues across the capital, officials said the expansion of counters will help meet increasing demand and make the service more accessible.
