Rawalpindi Police round up 8 illegal Afghans; verify 1,714 people in search operations

RAWALPINDI, Nov 24 (APP):The Rawalpindi Police, acting on the instructions of City Police Officer (CCPO) Syed Khalid Hamdani, on Monday carried out a series of search operations across multiple areas of the district as part of the ongoing National Action Plan (NAP) enforcement campaign, a spokesman said.
He stated that police teams checked the credentials of 1,714 individuals, inspecting 913 houses, 758 shops, 32 hotels and three hostels during the day-long activity.
The spokesman added that eight Afghan nationals residing illegally in Pakistan were taken into custody. Records of three scrapyards, two hostels, and one bus/truck stand were also scrutinised, along with detailed verification of tenants.
He said nine cases were registered against those who had failed to register their tenancy information in accordance with the law.
The search operations were conducted in the jurisdictions of the Naseerabad, Wah Saddar, Pirwadhai, Ganjmandi, City, Waris Khan, Banni, New Town, Sadiqabad, Ratta Amral, Chauntra, Mandra and Saddar Beruni police stations.
The spokesman noted that the ongoing operations aimed to reinforce public safety and curb crime, adding that the police were utilising all available resources to uphold the rule of law and maintain order.
