MULTAN, Nov 22 (APP):In a significant administrative move aimed at strengthening service delivery and financial sustainability, Director General Punjab Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Tayib Fareed on Saturday conducted his first official visit to the WASA Head Office Multan. The visit focused on operational performance, digital monitoring, and an urgent push to improve revenue recovery across all zones.
Managing Director WASA Multan, Faisal Shaukat, received the DG and briefed him on the agency’s ongoing initiatives, including the current state of sewerage and water supply systems, progress on projects proposed under the Punjab Development Program, and the overall working of the Recovery Wing. He noted that WASA Multan was utilizing all available resources to ensure timely and improved services for residents. He added that modern machinery received through JICA’s grant-in-aid was providing direct relief to citizens, with over 35,000 meters of sewerage lines already desilted using advanced mechanical and camera-based systems.
DG Tayib Fareed undertook a detailed review of recovery operations and stressed that financial self-reliance and improved public services were directly dependent on a robust recovery system. He directed all zones to meet their monthly recovery targets and launch a dedicated campaign to clear outstanding dues. He also ordered strict legal action against illegal and persistent defaulters.
Emphasizing accountability, the DG instructed that recovery teams be placed under a digital monitoring framework to ensure trackable daily performance. He called for a public awareness campaign to promote online payments, JazzCash, and digital billing facilities. Officers falling short of their targets would be served warnings, while high-performing staff would be acknowledged with appreciation certificates.
Tayib Fareed reaffirmed that providing fast, efficient, and modern services to citizens remained a top priority under the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. He added that there was substantial room for improvement in recovery, customer facilitation, and the digital transformation of WASA systems.
