LAHORE, Nov 21 (APP):The most dangerous suspect involved in the terrorism case, Ansar Lodhi, was killed by the fire of his own accomplices in a shootout took place in Baghbanpura between the Gujjarpura police and unknown suspects.
According to police sources, the investigation police team was taking the suspect to the Ghaziabad police station to recover explosives, when the unknown suspects opened indiscriminate fire on the police party to free their detained accomplice.
Police officials said that the suspect, Ansar Lodhi, was seriously injured by the fire of his own accomplices. The suspect was being shifted to the hospital but died on the way. The killed suspect was involved in shooting and injuring police personnel, possessing suicide jackets and other robbery cases. The suspect was also a record holder in several terrorism and robbery cases.
Last month, the suspect had also injured ASI Dilawar and Constable Ashiq of Ghaziabad police station during a police encounter. A suicide jacket was also recovered from the suspect Ansar Lodhi.
Police sources further said that weapons have also been recovered from Ansar Lodhi.
The bulletproof jacket of a policeman was also hit by two shots from the accused, but the policeman miraculously remained unharmed. The firing by unknown accused severely damaged the government vehicle.
Police officials further told APP that other accomplices of the deceased accused escaped taking advantage of the darkness and a search operation is underway in the area to arrest them.
