HYDERABAD, Nov 21 (APP): Sindh Minister for Women Development Shahina Sher Ali visited the safe house in Kotri on Friday, where she reviewed the facilities available for women seeking shelter in detail.
Additional Deputy Commissioner-I Jamshoro Babar Khan Nizamani, Mukhtiarkar Kotri and other relevant officials were also present on the occasion.
The provincial minister received a briefing from the in-charge of the safe house Syeda Qurat-ul-Ain Shah regarding the security, accommodation and other services being provided to vulnerable women residing there.
Talking to the media, Shahina Sher Ali said that the women development department was actively working at all levels to protect the rights, welfare and safety of women in the province. She said that various projects had been initiated to provide employment opportunities, vocational training and business support to unemployed women, adding that work on these initiatives was progressing rapidly.
She further said that the department received many cases of violence against women, and efforts were being made to ensure their protection. She noted that many women in rural areas faced domestic violence but were unable to file complaints. For such women, she informed the department has established a helpline 1094 through which they can report issues immediately. The provincial minister also appreciated the performance of the In-charge of the Women Complaint Cell Jamshoro.
