Rawalpindi Police verify records of 2,135 people, detain 36 illegal Afghan nationals

RAWALPINDI, Nov 21 (APP): The Rawalpindi Police on Friday continued extensive search operations across multiple areas of the district, verifying the credentials of 2,135 individuals and detaining 36 illegal Afghan nationals, a spokesman said.
Acting on the instructions of City Police Officer Syed Khalid Hamdani, police teams checked 1,386 houses, 954 shops, 27 hotels and two hostels. They also inspected one inn and three bus and truck stands, while tenant records were examined at several locations.
According to the spokesman, the 36 Afghan nationals were taken into custody for residing illegally. The police registered 25 cases against individuals for failing to record tenancy details, while another case was filed against a man from whom an illegal weapon was recovered.
The operations were carried out in the jurisdictions of the Naseerabad, Cantt, Wah Saddar, Morgah, Race Course, Rawat, Chauntra, Jatli, Mandra, Gujar Khan, Saddar Bairuni, Kallar Syedan, Kahuta, Chakri, Dhamial, Pirwadhai, Ganjmandi, City, Waris Khan, Banni, New Town, Sadiqabad and Ratta Amral police stations.
The spokesman said the search operations were aimed at maintaining law and order and curbing criminal activity, adding that all available resources were being utilised to uphold the rule of law and ensure public safety.
