SARGODHA, Nov 21 (APP): Commissioner Sargodha Division Jehanzeb Awan on Friday inaugurated the Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s City Beautification Mega Project, a major urban development initiative worth Rs. 637 million.
The inauguration ceremony, held on Sargodha’s City Road, was attended by Deputy Commissioner Capt. (retd) Muhammad Waseem, traders, senior officials from various departments, and local residents.

The beautification plan covers Katchery Bazaar and City Road up to Gol Chowk Mosque, where both sides of the corridor will be transformed with modern construction, new facades for shops, improved walkways, and upgraded road structures following international standards.
The Commissioner sai that the government aims to create safer, cleaner, and more attractive marketplaces, adding that “There is no previous example in Pakistan of undergrounding electricity infrastructure inside commercial markets at this scale”.
He said that”this is a historic initiative by the Chief Minister, and it will change the city’s outlook,” urging traders to cooperate during construction.
He added that challenges may arise but would be resolved through coordination, adding that the project is expected to be completed within six months.
Jahanzeb Awan also announced that Azad Road and Faisal Bazaar will be included in the next phase of the beautification programme. Trader representatives welcomed the initiative and assured full cooperation. The ceremony concluded with a prayer for the successful and timely completion of the project.
