AMC seminar stresses continuous skill upgradation for medical teachers

LAHORE, Nov 21 (APP):Medical teachers must consistently enhance their professional skills to meet modern-day demands and prepare competent future doctors capable of serving humanity with excellence.
These remarks were shared by medical educationists during a seminar titled ‘Working Yourself Up in Medical Professions’ held at Ameeruddin Medical College (AMC) here on Friday. AMC Principal Prof. Farooq Afzal presided over the seminar.
Speakers discussed key topics including rising pressures in the medical field, mental fatigue, professional resilience, and the increasing importance of self-care among healthcare providers.
Addressing the seminar as chief guest, President of the Pakistan Society of Gastroenterology, Prof. Dr. Ghias-un-Nabi Tayyab, praised the initiatives undertaken by Principal Prof. Farooq Afzal at PGMI and AMC — including faculty development programs, grand clinical rounds, lectures, and mentorship activities — noting that such efforts will greatly benefit both medical students and patients.
In his address, Prof. Farooq Afzal emphasized that success in modern medicine requires more than technical ability. He said strong mental wellbeing, discipline, ethical maturity, and a positive mindset are essential attributes for healthcare professionals. He advised young doctors to focus on higher education, maintain discipline, and treat patients with compassion and respect.
Prof. Ghias-un-Nabi Tayyab further highlighted the global trend of prioritizing self-management and wellbeing in the medical profession, stating that leading healthcare institutions worldwide emphasize mental balance and confidence among physicians as crucial for delivering quality care.
Participants lauded the seminar as a timely initiative that enhances knowledge while strengthening confidence and professional stability within the medical community.
At the conclusion of the event, Principal Prof. Farooq Afzal and the college administration thanked the distinguished guests and reaffirmed AMC’s commitment to organizing similar academic activities. A commemorative shield was presented to Prof. Dr. Ghias-un-Nabi Tayyab.
