Senate Standing Committee’s members express resent on deteriorating condition of Federal lodges

QUETTA, Nov 20 (APP): The Senate Standing Committee on Housing and Works, led by Chairman Nasir Mahmood on Thursday expressed anger over the deteriorating condition of cleanliness in the Federal Lodges in Quetta.
The Senate Standing Committee’s members said this while visiting Federal Lodges, Housing and Works projects and properties and PHA (F) housing scheme.
On this occasion, committee members Senators Bilal Khan Mandokhel, Abdul Shakoor Khan Achakzai, Madam Hasna Bano, Madam Khalida Atib, officials of the Housing and Works Department, officials of the Pakistan Housing Authority were also present.
The committee members visited the properties and projects located on Zarghun Road, Federal Lodges, Housing and Works, Sariab Road, and the housing scheme located in Kuchlak under the Pakistan Housing Authority.
During the visit to the Federal Lodges, the committee members were informed during the briefing that software has been created for booking and other things in the Federal Lodges.The system will go online.
The chairman of the committee and members expressed their anger over the deteriorating condition of cleanliness in the Federal Lodges and others and said that if the condition of the Federal Lodges would not change within a month after the release of money by the treasury, action would be taken against those responsible here.
If the responsible persons do not work, then they will be forced to take action against, Federal Lodges are the most popular place for accommodation but the government is not getting any benefit from it as the situation is not improving, they said.
The committee members expressed concern over the occupation of estate land in Sariab by unrelated persons and said that encroachments have been made by some private people on government land located in Sariab.
In addition, people belonging to Balochistan Constabulary and Frontier Corps are residing in the houses built in addition to this.
Later, the committee members sought complete details regarding government land in Sariab and the members said that the committee would consider this after receiving the information.
Committee Chairman Nasir Mahmood said that the IG Police would be summoned to recover the land.
 Under the leadership of Committee Chairman Nasir Mahmood, the committee members visited the under-construction scheme of Pakistan Housing Authority in Kuchlak.
The committee members were briefed about the scheme by Pakistan Housing Authority Chief Executive Officer Shahid.
During the briefing, it was informed that the scheme, which covers 86 acres, has a total of 1350 housing units, 714 houses and 636 apartments. 57 percent of the work has been completed.
Work on the scheme started in July 2020. The scheme has been divided into 10 packages. Work is underway on 4 packages. 28 canal areas of the scheme are commercial. Work is underway for the electricity, gas and water issues of the scheme.
On this occasion, the Senate Standing Committee on Housing and Works also heard the concerns and reservations of the allottees of the scheme.
After listening to the problems of the allottees, the committee chairman and members assured that in addition to eliminating the obstacles faced in the completion of the scheme, they would sit with the DG Estate and find a solution to the problems.
