ATTOCK, Nov 20 (APP):Rescue 1122 personnel successfully rescued two men who were stranded on a river island in the Indus near Formoli village in Hazro after a night-long vigil, officials said on Thursday.
According to a spokesperson for Rescue 1122 Attock, the two individuals—Danish Ali, 21, son of Fareedullah, and Abid Ali, 30, son of Rehmatullah, both residents of Formoli—had gone to the river for fishing late Wednesday evening. As water levels rose unexpectedly due to a sudden surge in the current, they became trapped on a delta in the middle of the river.
Upon receiving the distress call, rescue teams from the Hazro and Attock stations immediately reached the site and assessed the situation. However, extremely fast currents, thick fog, and complete darkness made it impossible to launch a safe rescue operation during the night. The teams remained deployed on-site throughout the night, monitoring the situation and preparing for an early-morning intervention.
