Enhanced Pakistan-US collaboration key to boost economic ties: ICCI President

ISLAMABAD, Nov 20 (APP):President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI) Sardar Tahir Mehmood on Thursday held a highly productive meeting with Jay Kim, Economic Officer at the U.S. Embassy to explore concrete avenues for strengthening Pakistan–US trade and investment relations.
During the meeting, Sardar Tahir highlighted ICCI’s commitment to expanding bilateral economic cooperation, emphasizing opportunities in IT and digital services, agriculture and agri-tech, food security, renewable energy, higher education linkages, and avenues for SMEs and startups.
He said the US remains a vital trading partner for Pakistan, and there is immense untapped potential that both sides can unlock through structured engagement and targeted B2B matchmaking.
The ICCI President informed that the Chamber would share comprehensive sector-wise lists of its members to help initiate direct and result-oriented B2B interactions with relevant US companies. He stressed that enhanced collaboration could significantly boost exports, attract investment, and foster innovation-driven growth.
Economic Officer of the US Embassy appreciated ICCI’s proactive approach toward promoting bilateral trade. He reaffirmed that the Embassy is fully committed to facilitating deeper commercial cooperation, supporting business-to-business linkages, and helping connect Pakistani enterprises with suitable American counterparts across priority sectors.
He welcomed ICCI’s initiative to provide sectoral profiles and expressed hope that these efforts would lead to tangible business outcomes.
