ISLAMABAD, Nov 20 (APP): A total of 3,278 vehicles received M-Tags in the past 24 hours as Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) pushed ahead with its citywide tagging drive.
With 10 M-Tag points now active across the federal capital, the district administration said every vehicle must secure an M-Tag without delay.
According to the latest update, the campaign is progressing steadily with thousands of vehicles being tagged daily.
In this regard, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad, Irfan Nawaz Memon visited several M-Tag points to review operations and assess how teams are managing the influx of vehicles.
During the visit, he reiterated that M-Tag installation is mandatory for every vehicle travelling within the federal capital. He said the step is part of a broader plan to improve city management, streamline traffic flow and enhance public safety.
The DC shared that the city now has 10 active M-Tag points, established to make the process easier and more accessible for residents. These points have been set up across major entry routes and busy locations so motorists can complete tagging without delays. He added that more points could be added if the need arises and if vehicle flow continues to increase.
According to the district administration, the expansion of tagging locations is aimed at ensuring smooth service delivery. Officials said the administration is focused on keeping the process simple and accessible, especially as the number of motorists increases throughout the week.
The DC noted that making the M-Tag compulsory will help authorities monitor entry and exit routes more efficiently. He said the system supports security checks, traffic monitoring and vehicle regulation, allowing teams to manage movement across the city in a timely manner.
He urged all citizens to cooperate and get their vehicles tagged at the nearest point. The DC said that despite the significant progress made in recent days, many vehicles still remain untagged, and action will be taken during the next phase against those who fail to comply.
Meanwhile, the administration confirmed that activity at the 10 tagging points remains high. In the past 24 hours alone, 3,278 vehicles were issued M-Tags. Officials said the response shows public understanding of the requirement and the importance of completing the process as soon as possible.
The district administration has again appealed to all motorists to ensure their vehicles have an M-Tag before travelling through the city.
The DC stressed that all arrangements at M-Tag points have been put in place to support citizens. Staff at the locations have been directed to assist motorists and guide them through the brief installation process. The administration is planning further improvements in record-keeping, crowd management and traffic handling around these points.
The district administration continues to encourage citizens to avoid the last-minute rush and complete the process early. Officials said cooperation from residents will help the city meet its target and enable smooth enforcement in the final phase.
