Urban Tree Plantation Drive launched along Railway tracks

ISLAMABAD, Nov 20 (APP):Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi has announced the official launch of the first phase of tree planting along railway tracks under the Urban Tree Plantaation Drive.
The initiative, launched in collaboration with Pakistan Railways and the Punjab Government, aims to enhance greenery and promote environmental sustainability across the province.
It forms part of a broader effort to strengthen green infrastructure, contribute to climate resilience, and improve the travel experience for passengers.
During the inauguration ceremony, the Railways Minister marked the beginning of the first phase of the drive, which will cover multiple railway routes across Punjab.
The first phase includes Mandi Bahauddin, Malakwal, Sargodha, and Bhulawal. In Mandi Bahauddin, the campaign was formally inaugurated in the presence of the Deputy Commissioner.
Abbasi stated that the drive is being carried out under the Chief Minister of Punjab’s Green and Clean Punjab Vision.
 He assured full support for the initiative, adding that tree plantation along railway tracks will soon be expanded across Punjab.
The Minister emphasized that the drive is a key step towards building an eco-friendly railway and a greener Punjab, noting that planting trees along railway tracks is expected to significantly reduce air pollution.
