High-level meeting reviews security, administrative arrangements for NA-18 Haripur by-poll

PESHAWAR, Nov 20 (APP):A high-level meeting held here on Thursday reviewed security and administrative preparations for the NA-18 Haripur by-election, scheduled for November 23.
The meeting was chaired by Provincial Election Commissioner Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Saeed Gul, and attended by Chief Secretary KP Shahab Ali Shah, Inspector General Police Zulfiqar Hameed, Secretary Home Muhammad Zubair, Commissioner Hazara Division Fayyaz Ali, Regional Police Officer Hazara Division, and Regional Election Commissioner Zulfiqar Ahmed, along with other senior officials.
Joint Provincial Election Commissioner Muhammad Farid Afridi, Director Elections Muhammad Nadeem Khan, and Deputy Director Fahad Ali Shah also participated, said Spokesperson, Provincial Election Commissioner KP.
The meeting received a detailed briefing on the arrangements for the by-election being held on the vacant seat of NA-18 Haripur.
Provincial Election Commissioner Saeed Gul said the by-election carries significant importance and reaffirmed that the Election Commission is taking immediate action on all violations of the code of conduct.
He added that the election campaign will conclude at midnight between November 21 and 22, and that the Commission has completed all necessary preparations for the by-poll.
Sharing further details, the Provincial Election Commissioner said that 754,000 voters are registered in the constituency, including 392,415 male and 361,705 female voters.
A total of 604 polling stations and 1,906 polling booths have been established, while 402 polling stations have been declared sensitive and 42 highly sensitive.
Control rooms have been set up at the office of the Provincial Election Commissioner, as well as at the DRO and RO offices, to monitor election activities.
He directed that strict security measures be implemented for the distribution of election material and at the result compilation centers.
Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah informed the meeting that the Chief Minister will be apprised of the Election Commission’s notice regarding his speech.
He assured that comprehensive security arrangements will be put in place and that all instructions of the Election Commission will be fully implemented.
The Home Secretary and Regional Police Officer briefed the meeting on the security plan, stating that CCTV cameras have been installed and additional security personnel will be deployed at sensitive and highly sensitive polling stations.
A round-the-clock control room has also been established at the police department to ensure coordination among all security agencies.
Provincial Election Commissioner Saeed Gul expressed gratitude for the cooperation extended by the provincial government and security institutions, expressing hope that the by-election would be held in a peaceful environment.
