ISLAMABAD, Nov 19 (APP):The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police’s rollout of M-Tag facilitation counters at seven key points across the federal capital has drawn an encouraging public response, with citizens widely welcoming the move as a major step toward safer, faster and more technology-driven entry procedures.
The initiative—introduced under the enhanced security plan of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and IGP  Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi—has quickly gained traction as residents appreciate the convenience of on-spot registration and the promise of smoother, digitally verified access into the city.
An official told APP on Wednesday that under the revised security regime, all vehicles entering Islamabad are required to carry a valid E-Tag/M-Tag for digital verification at checkpoints.
He clarified that vehicles already carrying an M-Tag issued in other cities do not need to reapply, as the system is fully compatible and recognised at all Islamabad entry points.
He said M-Tag services have been made available at the following seven points for citizens who need a new tag:
1: I-8 Kachnar Park
2: H-9 Excise & Taxation Office
3: Islamabad Club
4: Lake View Park
5: F-9 Park
6: Tarlai
7: Chungi No. 26
The official added that the initiative aims to ensure secure, verifiable and technology-enabled entry into the federal capital by monitoring vehicle movement and reducing the risks associated with unchecked access.
He said the system supports the Interior Minister’s and IGP Rizvi’s vision of making Islamabad one of the safest and most technologically monitored cities in the country.
Citizens have been advised to obtain their M-Tag—if they do not already have one—to avoid delays at checkpoints and to support the enhanced security measures being enforced across the federal capital.
Public Response
Tahir Azad, a government employee, told APP that the decision was “a welcome and much-needed move,” adding that M-Tag verification at checkpoints will speed up checking and help prevent potential terrorism attempts.
At the Kachnar Park M-Tag point, Dr Komal Ateeq told APP that citizens should fully support the initiative.
She said, “This system will help keep our city and our children safe. When kids go out, mothers should not fear accidents or terror incidents. If everyone gets M-Tag, Islamabad will be more secure.”
Rai Ghulam Ali, a senior citizen, also praised the initiative while speaking to APP.
He said that providing M-Tag services at multiple locations across Islamabad is a highly commendable step, especially for elderly citizens who face difficulty visiting distant offices.
“When services are spread across parks, club areas and excise points, it becomes easier for people like us,” he said, adding that this convenience reflects the government’s commitment to citizens’ safety and comfort.
