LAHORE, Nov 19 (APP):Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has successfully uncovered a major fraudulent operation involved in producing fake milk under the guise of cow and buffalo milk.
The vigilance team intercepted the supply of a white chemical-based liquid in the Chungi Amar Sidhu area, preventing its distribution in the city.
During the raid, PFA teams seized 11 drums, 4 maunds of prepared fake milk, 3 sacks of powder, 4 gas cylinders, 4 freezers, multiple machines and other equipment used for adulteration. The illegal unit was immediately sealed and a case has been registered against the culprits, according to DG Food Authority Asim Javaid.
DG PFA stated that a group operating secretly inside a residential house had been producing fake milk during nighttime and supplying it to shops early morning.
Items recovered from the site included powder, chemicals, substandard ghee and a thick adulterated liquid, all used to prepare milk-like substances.
The DG revealed that powder, water and ghee were mixed to produce fake milk, deceiving consumers and posing severe health risks. “All samples collected during the operation failed on-the-spot testing and were subsequently disposed of,” he added.
DG Asim Javaid warned that the ingredients used in counterfeit milk are extremely harmful to human health. He emphasized that the operation was conducted after continuous surveillance by the vigilance team.
