ISLAMABAD, Nov 18 (APP): The District & Sessions Court of Islamabad on Tuesday accepted the acquittal pleas of former Sindh Governor Imran Ismail and former federal minister Shafqat Mahmood in the Haqiqi Azadi March case.
Judicial Magistrate Mubashir Hassan Chishti approved the acquittal applications of former Sindh Governor Imran Ismail, former federal minister Shafqat Mahmood, and several others in the Haqiqi Azadi March case. The decision  was announced by the Judicial Magistrate after the court had reserved its ruling during the previous hearing.
During the hearing, the court accepted the acquittal pleas moved by Imran Ismail and Shafqat Mahmood and ordered their release from the case. However, the court rejected the acquittal pleas filed by several Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers who were also nominated in the same case.
Following the dismissal of their pleas, the court adjourned further proceedings against the PTI workers until December 9. The workers will continue to face trial in connection with the charges.
Two separate cases had been registered at Bara Kahu Police Station against former PTI leaders and other individuals linked to the Haqiqi Azadi March.
