LAHORE, Nov 18 (APP): The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday issued bailable arrest warrants for an accused, Ali Hasan, in a case pertaining to the uploading of a doctored video of Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari.
LHC Chief Justice Aalia Neelum conducted the hearing on a petition filed by Azma Bokhari seeking cancellation of the accused’s bail. Advocate Azhar Siddique appeared on behalf of Ali Hasan.
The petitioner’s counsel informed the court that despite 25 hearings, the accused had repeatedly failed to appear before the trial court, causing unnecessary delays in the proceedings. He requested the court to cancel the bail of the accused.
At this stage, the chief justice questioned why the accused had not appeared despite receiving court notices.
In response, the defence counsel said that the accused could be summoned immediately if the court desired.
Expressing displeasure, the chief justice remarked that the notice was issued to the accused, not to his lawyer.
The court subsequently issued bailable arrest warrants for Ali Hasan over his continued absence and adjourned further proceedings on the petition.
