LAHORE, Nov 18 (APP): Fatima Memorial Hospital (FMH) hosted an insightful session under the NUR Student Leadership Program’s Shanakht Speaker Series at the Gen. Attiq-ur-Rehman Auditorium, here on Tuesday.
The discussion focused on the evolving narrative of Urdu, culture, and the changing dimensions of Pakistani identity. Esteemed writer, playwright, and critic Prof. Dr. Asghar Nadeem Syed attended as the keynote speaker and delivered a thought-provoking talk on the development of language, literature, and societal identity.
The session was jointly moderated by Maha Rehman (Co-Founder, NUR Foundation) and Prof. Dr. Khaleeq-ur-Rehman (Head of Urology & Andrology, FMH College of Medicine & Dentistry). The event also featured insightful remarks from Mrs. Shahima Rehman (Chairperson, NUR Fatima Memorial System & Founder, NUR International University) and Prof. Dr. Zafar Ali Chaudhry (Vice Chancellor, Faisalabad Medical University).
Speakers highlighted that language is not merely a tool of communication but a vital pillar of cultural heritage, intellectual tradition, and national identity. A “Resolution of Identity” was unanimously adopted at the end of the session, emphasizing the promotion of Urdu, its stronger integration in academic frameworks, and collective efforts to reinforce its role in shaping national identity.
Participants highly appreciated the discussion, calling it an important effort to strengthen the youth’s connection with their linguistic and cultural roots. The session proved to be a meaningful step toward fostering awareness among students and youth about the importance of preserving and understanding their linguistic and cultural identity.
