Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan expand cooperation in higher education

TASHKENT, Nov 18 (UzA/APP) : Negotiations between the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan Kongratbay Sharipov and the Deputy Chairperson of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Bayramgul Orazdurdyeva took place in Tashkent.
Issues related to the development of cooperation in higher education and scientific research were discussed at the meeting. The parties focused on exchanging experience, developing joint educational programs and research projects, and strengthening practical mechanisms of interaction between the academic institutions of the two countries.
Issues of academic exchange, the organization of short-term internships, increasing the number of joint projects under the Erasmus+ program, the development of double-degree educational programs in agriculture, and the holding of the WorldSkills 2026 event in Uzbekistan jointly with Turkmenistan were also discussed at the meeting.
Prospects for implementing joint scientific projects in areas such as agriculture, desert land reclamation, water resources management, information technology, and artificial intelligence were also considered.
Bayramgul Orazdurdyeva noted that friendly relations between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, based on mutual trust, continue to develop, and expressed support for the implementation of joint initiatives in various fields.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to establish a joint working group to develop a roadmap for cooperation for 2025-2026. The document will aim to systematically expand bilateral ties and implement large-scale projects in education and science.
