FAISALABAD, Nov 16 (APP): Managing Director (MD) Water And Sanitation Agency (WASA) Sohail Qadir Cheema has directed the contractors to significantly accelerate work on all ongoing sewerage development schemes and said that no compromise would be made on material quality and construction standards.
Presiding over a meeting, he reviewed development progress of various schemes underway under Annual Development Program (ADP).
He instructed the consultant agency NESPAK to exercise strict supervision across all construction sites to ensure timely and efficient progress.
He directed WASA officers that every project should be completed by June 2026 so that the citizens can benefit from improved sewerage services in the upcoming monsoon season.
He said that ADP schemes are of critical public importance and must be executed with maximum efficiency.
He issued firm orders that after installation of each pipeline segment, the entire site must be cleared immediately including the removal of surrounding soil, debris and leftover materials.
Although pace of work would be increase yet quality and durability of materials would remain uncompromised, he added.
He warned that weekly installation of sewerage pipelines must not fall below 2,000 feet. Any contractor failing to meet this minimum requirement would be replaced without delay.
Such decisive measures are necessary to ensure that public development works do not face unnecessary delays at the cost of citizens’ convenience, he added.
He also directed NESPAK representatives to convene a meeting with all contractors, announcing that he would personally chair the session.
The contractors would be clearly instructed to expedite construction activity on all ADP schemes so that every project can be delivered within the stipulated timeframe, he added.
He said WASA is committed to deliver efficient, durable and timely infrastructure to the residents of Faisalabad. All sewerage and sanitation projects move forward without hindrance, he added.
