MURREE, Nov 16 (APP): Punjab Chief Minister’s Special Assistant for Price Control, Salma Butt, on Sunday announced ‘zero-tolerance’ policy against price violations and poor hygiene standards during a visit to the hill station.
Chairing a meeting here at the Deputy Commissioner’s office to review price enforcement, she directed the officials to intensify daily market inspections and ensure strict action against profiteers.
“The Punjab Government is committed to providing relief to the public and will not tolerate overcharging or hoarding at any level,” she stated, warning of strict legal action against those creating an artificial inflation crisis.
The meeting, also attended by Assistant Commissioner Kamran Sagheer, was followed by extensive market inspections in areas including Jhikka Gali, Mall Road and the Bus Stand, a DPR news release said.
Butt reviewed prices, hygiene and the availability of essentials. During the visit, several food points were sealed for “extremely poor management” and the use of red-bagged LPG cylinders, while a cash-and-carry outlet was fined Rs 50,000 for storing expired products.
She reiterated that providing quality food to tourists was a top priority and that the zero-tolerance policy would be strictly enforced. She urged citizens to lodge complaints with the Punjab Food Authority via helpline 1223.
