SUKKUR, Nov 16 (APP): Two researchers from the Institute of Chemistry, Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU) Khairpur, represented Pakistan at the Saudi Chapter of the American Chemical Society (ACS) International Conference held in Saudi Arabia.
According to the release issued on Sunday, Fayaz Ahmed Kanher and Abdul Wahab Soomro, participated in the conference, which was held from November 11-13 at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. Their participation was facilitated through the International Student Chapter, established under the efforts of Dr. Bhajan Lal Bhatia, Associate Professor and Faculty Advisor of the chapter.
The chapter provides a platform for SALU students to engage in global academic and research opportunities, with Prof. Dr. Wahid Bakhsh Jatoi serving as the Professional Advisor. The students’ participation was supported by the ACS Student Communities Professional Meeting Grant, covering registration, accommodation, and travel expenses.
Prof. Dr. Jatoi said the participation in the ACS event is a testament to the university’s growing presence in the global chemistry community and highlights the potential of young researchers. “The conference provided an excellent opportunity for the students to present their research, engage with global peers, and network with renowned scientists,” he added.
Dr. Bhatia thanked the university leadership, particularly Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Yusuf Khushk, for fostering an environment conducive to academic excellence and international collaboration. He also acknowledged the guidance of Prof. Dr. Khalid Pervaiz Mehr, Director Institute of Chemistry, and Dr. Ali Raza Lashari, Coordinator Student Society Centre.
The conference focused on modern chemistry, attracting participants from the US, Denmark, Japan, Germany, and the UK.
