LAHORE, Nov 16 (APP): Pakistan Furniture Council (PFC) Chief Executive Officer Mian Kashif Ashfaq has said that investment in human capital is crucial to address the acute skills shortage and equip Pakistan with a workforce capable of operating sophisticated industrial units using modern technologies.
Addressing a board of directors meeting here on Sunday, he said that as global industries increasingly shift toward advanced technologies, automation, and innovation-driven production, nations with strong human capital gain a distinct advantage. He emphasized that Pakistan must prioritize education, technical training, vocational skills, and continuous professional development to prepare its youth for these opportunities.
He added that modern investors seek not only favourable policies but also a trained workforce capable of operating sophisticated machinery, meeting global standards, and maintaining high productivity. Strengthening institutions, upgrading technical training centres, and fostering industry-academia partnerships can significantly enhance Pakistan’s human resource capabilities. Investment in human capital, he said, will also reduce unemployment, boost economic growth, and create sustainable opportunities for the younger generation.
Mian Kashif Ashfaq further noted that a skilled workforce increases the confidence of multinational companies, encouraging broader investment across sectors including manufacturing, information technology, renewable energy, and automotive industries. He concluded that developing human capital is the cornerstone of economic revival and a prerequisite for attracting long-term, technology-driven foreign investment.
