PESHAWAR, Nov 16 (APP): The provincial capital police carried out a major operation, successfully foiling an attempt to smuggle goods from Peshawar to Lahore. The Excise Police not only recovered the smuggled items but also arrested four Afghan smugglers involved in the operation.
According to the Excise police on Sunday, during a joint check post operation conducted by the Excise Police in Peshawar against illegal trade, a bus traveling from Peshawar to Lahore was intercepted. Officials discovered a large quantity of smuggled goods hidden in secret compartments inside the bus.
The recovered items included 680 LED screens and 25 cartons of mobile oil. Police revealed that the goods belonged to a well-known Afghan smuggling group operating in Peshawar, which was attempting to transport the merchandise to Lahore. The seized items are said to be worth several lakhs of rupees.
During the operation, the police arrested four members of the notorious Afghan smuggling network. Both the recovered goods and the detained suspects have been handed over to Customs authorities for further investigation and legal action.
