ABBOTTABAD, Nov 15 (APP): Under the provincial government’s Good Governance Road-map for improved district service delivery, the district administration Abbottabad has initiated action for the identification and removal of encroachments at Kuneer Bridge Neelum–Jhelum Point.
Assistant Commissioner Galiyat Shameem Ullah, accompanied by the Sub-Engineer of the Irrigation Department and the Patwari of Circle Bakot, visited the site which had remained sealed since May 2025 due to unauthorized structures along the River Neelum.
A joint demarcation was conducted by teams from the Irrigation and Revenue Departments, measuring from the High Flood Level (HFL) in line with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa River Protection Ordinance 2002 (Amendment Act 2014).
Owners of the identified encroachments were present and voluntarily agreed to cooperate in the removal process. The administration directed that encroachments involving 17 shops be cleared within one week, to which the owners assured full compliance.
The district administration reiterated that encroachments along riverbanks will not be tolerated under any circumstances and announced that similar operations will continue indiscriminately in the future.
