ISLAMABAD, Nov 14 (APP): National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Friday highlighted growing prevalence of diabetes in the country and its social and economic impact.
On World Diabetes Day, he described the rising number of diabetes patients in the country as a serious concern, stressing that awareness, timely diagnosis, and access to proper treatment are crucial to combating the disease.
Sadiq encouraged citizens to adopt a healthy lifestyle, including a balanced diet and regular exercise, as these measures can significantly prevent diabetes.
He said tackling this health challenge requires collective awareness, strong policy measures, and responsible public behaviour.
The Speaker also emphasized the importance of regular medical check-ups and public awareness campaigns to promote healthy habits.
He called for special initiatives targeting young people, noting that early prevention is key to reducing future risk.
He added that the government is committed to a comprehensive strategy for diabetes prevention and treatment and praised Pakistan’s active role in global efforts against diabetes and other non-communicable diseases.
