LAHORE, Nov 14 (APP):Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique has directed the authorities to ensure uninterrupted provision of medicines to registered patients of Nawaz Sharif Cardiology Centre Samli Murree, Sahiwal Institute of Cardiology, and Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cardiology Sargodha.
He issued these instructions while presiding over a meeting at the Department of Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education on Friday, held to review the provision of free medicines to patients suffering from cancer and heart diseases.
The minister said that the project for home delivery of free medicines to cancer and cardiac patients is running successfully. He added that the department is using an online dashboard to conduct live tracking of medicine parcels, which are being delivered through Pakistan Post. From January to October 2025, more than 522,000 patients battling cancer and heart diseases have been registered under the initiative.
He said that, in line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the government is striving to provide the best possible healthcare facilities to the public. Patients living in densely populated localities, he noted, have expressed great satisfaction upon receiving medicines at their doorstep.
Secretary Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Azmat Mahmood Khan stated that free medicines are also being delivered to patients in remote regions and that the scope of the project has been expanded to rural areas.
Special Secretary Development Benish Fatima Sahi, Deputy Secretary Procurement Murad Ali, PITB’s Nousheen Fayyaz, Deputy Director Abdul Mateen, Chief Postmaster Lahore Huma, and other officials attended the meeting.
