Punjab govt releases Rs. 9.1bln for payment of medicines

LAHORE, Nov 14 (APP):The Punjab government has approved Rs. 9.1 billion for clearing outstanding dues of medicines and disposables in government teaching hospitals across the province.
According to the Health Department on Friday, following approval from the provincial cabinet, the Finance Department has released the first installment amounting to Rs 4.5 billion. The funds have been transferred to the accounts of government teaching hospitals to address pending payments and ensure uninterrupted supply of essential medicines and disposables.
A spokesperson said the move reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening the healthcare system and improving patient care by ensuring timely availability of necessary medical supplies.
