ISLAMABAD, Nov 13 (APP):Minister for Interior and Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Mohsin Naqvi paid a late-night visit to the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium to review security arrangements ahead of the ongoing Pakistan–Sri Lanka cricket series.
He was accompanied by Sri Lankan High Commissioner Fred Siriweerathne and Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry. Senior officials, including the Chief Commissioner of Islamabad, Commissioner Rawalpindi, Inspector General Islamabad Police, and other law enforcement representatives, were also present during the visit.
Minister Naqvi inspected the security measures in place and met with security personnel deployed at various points around the stadium. He commended their professionalism and dedication, urging them to continue performing their duties with the same spirit and commitment.
Later, the Interior Minister met members of the Sri Lankan cricket team during their practice session and expressed gratitude for their continued participation in the Pakistan tour.
“Your security is our responsibility,” Naqvi assured the players. “Your continued presence in Pakistan is a victory of peace and a defeat for terrorism. The entire Pakistani nation will always remain indebted to your love and affection. This beautiful chapter of Pakistan–Sri Lanka friendship will be remembered forever.”He also met Pakistani players and observed their training session.
Sri Lankan High Commissioner Fred Siriweerathne praised the arrangements, saying, “I have served in several countries, but I consider Pakistan my second home. We are fully satisfied with the security measures taken for our team.”
The visit underscored the government’s commitment to ensuring foolproof security for international sporting events and strengthening Pakistan’s longstanding friendship with Sri Lanka.
