Governor Kundi visits KP Ombudsperson Office for Women, lauds efforts for women’s empowerment

PESHAWAR, Nov 13 (APP):Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Thursday visited the office of the Ombudsperson for Women in Peshawar.
Upon arrival, the Governor was received by Provincial Ombudsperson Rubab Mehdi, while Federal Ombudsperson Secretariat’s Regional Head Muhammad Mushtaq Jadoon and other officials were also present.
During the visit, Ombudsperson Rubab Mehdi briefed the Governor in detail about the objectives, functions, and ongoing initiatives of the institution, including the mechanisms for addressing complaints related to workplace harassment, property disputes, and other women’s rights issues. She also highlighted the online complaint registration system designed to facilitate women across the province.
Governor Kundi appreciated the overall performance of the office, acknowledging its vital role in addressing women’s socio-legal grievances.
He said that the Women Ombudsperson’s office serves as an effective platform for building women’s trust and ensuring transparency, accountability, and good governance.
The Governor emphasized the need for robust awareness campaigns to prevent incidents of harassment and reaffirmed that women deserve equal rights, dignity, and respect in society.
He reiterated his commitment to ensuring timely redressal of public complaints and empowering women across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, assuring full support and cooperation from the Governor’s House for the Ombudsperson’s office.
On the occasion, Ombudsperson Rubab Mehdi presented a commemorative shield to the Governor. Earlier, Qasim Hanif, member of the Scottish National Party and its National Executive Committee, called on Governor Faisal Karim Kundi.
Hanif expressed interest in enhancing collaboration between Scotland and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in business, investment, and education, saying the active role of the Pakistani diaspora in Scotland.
Governor Kundi welcomed the proposal, reaffirming that the Governor’s House is open to all who wish to support the province’s development.
He highlighted ongoing efforts in climate action, youth engagement, and women’s empowerment, stressing the need to promote KP’s positive image globally.
Similarly, a delegation of the Peoples Business Forum, led by Abdul Wali Turabi and Aqil Khan, called on Governor Faisal Karim Kundi.
The delegation discussed issues faced by traders at the federal level and lauded the Governor’s continued support for the business community.
Governor Kundi assured that he would take up their concerns with relevant federal authorities to ensure early resolution. He reaffirmed his commitment to promoting investment and creating a business-friendly environment in the province. The delegation also invited the Governor to the inauguration of Black Cafe in Peshawar, which he accepted.
