ISLAMABAD, Nov 13 (APP):Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq Thursday emphasized that close coordination among legislative institutions is essential for strengthening democracy and ensuring effective public representation.
During meeting with Speaker Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly Chaudhry Latif Akbar at the Parliament House, he said that promoting cooperation between legislative bodies is among his top priorities.
Deputy Speaker National Assembly Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah, Special Secretary Syed Shamoon Hashmi and Secretary AJK Legislative Assembly Chaudhry Basharat Hussain were also present during the meeting, said a news release.
During the meeting, both leaders held a detailed discussion on enhancing parliamentary cooperation, strengthening institutional linkages and other matters of mutual interest.
Ayaz Sadiq said that the hearts of the people of Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir beat together.
The Speaker appreciated the initiatives taken by the AJK Legislative Assembly for public welfare and development, saying that increased parliamentary engagement would further strengthen cooperation between both assemblies.
Speaker AJK Legislative Assembly appreciated Ayaz Sadiq’s remarks and commended his leadership in conducting the proceedings of the National Assembly in an efficient and dignified manner.
Latif Akbar lauded the Speaker’s efforts to promote inter-parliamentary collaboration, saying that Pakistan’s Parliament has always been the voice of the Kashmiri people.
He said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir take pride in their emotional and ideological bond with Pakistan.
Both Speakers agreed to enhance the exchange of parliamentary experiences and cooperation between their respective institutions.
Ayaz Sadiq also conveyed his best wishes for the prosperity, progress and lasting peace of the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
