KHANEWAL, Nov 13 (APP):The Punjab government has initiated a comprehensive program to ensure the complete rehabilitation of flood-affected families under the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
As part of the initiative, kitchen gardening seed kits were distributed among flood victims to promote self-sufficiency and food security at the local level.
Commissioner Aamir Karim Khan, MPA Akbar Hayat Hanjra, and Deputy Commissioner Dr Salma Suleman distributed vegetable seed kits among flood-affected farmers during a special ceremony in Khanewal.
Addressing the gathering, Commissioner Aamir Karim Khan emphasized that “wheat is not just a crop but an integral part of our culture.” He added that the Punjab government has fixed the wheat support price at Rs 3,500 per 40 kilograms to ensure fair returns for growers.
He further said that the provision of super seeders, farmer cards, and tractors reflects the government’s farmer-friendly policies aimed at agricultural modernization and prosperity.
The commissioner urged farmers to cooperate with the divisional administration in achieving the target of cultivating wheat on 1.77 million acres across the division by November 20.
MPA Akbar Hayat Hanjra said the Punjab government was practically committed to the welfare of farmers and would ensure that every wheat grower receives full compensation for their produce.
Deputy Commissioner Dr Salma Suleman said the district administration was extending full support to farmers for wheat cultivation. She encouraged them to sow wheat on maximum
land to contribute to personal prosperity and the country’s economic stability.
Director Agriculture (Extension) Shahzad Sabir also briefed participants at the farmer gathering, providing guidance to enhance wheat productivity. The event was attended by ADC (Revenue) Khalid Abbas Siyal and Assistant Commissioner Rana Aamir Liaqat, among other officials.
