Six food points penalized for hygiene violations

MULTAN, Nov 13 (APP):The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) carried out extensive inspections across various areas of Multan and imposed over Rs two lac fine to six food points.
According to a spokesperson for the Authority, food safety teams inspected dairy units, restaurants, fast-food outlets, drink corners, and milk shops in areas including Aziz Hotel Chowk, Bata Chowk, Gulgasht Colony, Hussain Agahi Bazaar, and Razabad Chowk Suraj Miani.
During the operation, a case was registered against the owner of a desi ghee production unit after laboratory tests confirmed adulteration. The unit has been sealed and its production suspended until further improvement.
Two restaurants were fined Rs. 75,000 each for using rancid oil and substandard meat, while two fast-food points were penalized Rs. 20,000 each for using monosodium glutamate (China salt) and other prohibited ingredients. A milk shop was fined Rs. 20,000 for adulteration of water.
The teams confiscated 150 liters of adulterated milk, 100 sachets of banned gutka, and 20 kilograms of substandard food items, all of which were destroyed on the spot.
Director General PFA stated that the food safety teams were conducting raids for preventing unhealthy food across Punjab.
