ABBOTTABAD, Nov 13 (APP):Federal Tax Ombudsman’s Regional Advisor for Hazara Region, Masood Ahmed said the applicants can now get justice within 30 days and implementation within 60 days on their tax-related complaints.
Ahile addressing a press briefing at the Regional Tax Ombudsman’s office here Thursday, he stated that the Federal Tax Ombudsman has officially commenced operations in the Hazara region to provide prompt resolution of grievances against the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Customs and Sales Tax departments.
Masood Ahmed informed that complainants can file their cases through the online portal, in writing, or via WhatsApp, and no legal fee is charged during the process. The Federal Tax Ombudsman seeks a response from the FBR within 15 days and delivers a decision within 30 days, ensuring compliance within 60 days. In case of violation, contempt proceedings are initiated against the responsible officers.
He further stated that citizens of Abbottabad and Hazara Division can lodge complaints regarding offices in Islamabad, Quetta, or other regions at the Abbottabad office and obtain relief locally. During the past month, 22 applicants from Abbottabad received tax refunds worth Rs. 10 million through the intervention of the Federal Tax Ombudsman.
Masood Ahmed highlighted that complaints can be made against misuse of authority, corruption, and unnecessary notices in the departments of FBR, Customs, Sales Tax, and Excise Duty. He said that there are 13 regional offices of the Federal Tax Ombudsman operating across the country, including Abbottabad, which caters to the people of Hazara.
He urged the media to spread awareness so that the business community and taxpayers can benefit from the services of the Federal Tax Ombudsman. “We are committed to transparency, honesty, and justice in resolving public grievances,” Masood Ahmed concluded.
